It has been a year since the birth of Chat GPT, the starting signal for the great digital transformation in which we are immersed. Below, we present the keys to the first part of the study ‘HR professionals face the challenges of AI’, presented by CentRHo and AEDRH.

Only 14% of HR professionals use AI in their tasks, but more than half believe it will transform their jobs in 3 years

The snapshot of the use of AI for HR professionals is very revealing. Only 14% admit to regularly, or daily, using AI tools in their jobs. Only 4% use it on a daily basis.. It is worth highlighting a slight increase in the use of AI in professionals under 40 years of age (64% use them frequently). Although we did not find significant differences in general terms in terms of its use in terms of gender, we did detect a fact significant: while there is a minimal predominance of women vs. men in daily use (57% of function professionals who use AI tools daily are women, 62% of those who use it occasionally); however They are 62% of women who never use it, a fact that may be related to the following ‘insight’.

HR managers are the professionals who use AI the most in their daily lives

Although it is precisely in the HR sector where we have the most women in management positions in Spain, with 42% of the total number, according to the ‘Woman in Business 2023’ report, they are still the ones who occupy these positions the most. managers, and this is why we can find more women who ‘do not use AI at all’ compared to men. Since the study HR professionals facing the challenges of AI’ from the ‘Future for work Institute’ reveals that it is professionals with managerial roles who use AI the most (52% use it daily); It is also in small companies where this tool is used the most. For its part, it is Chat GPT is the most used tool and only 7% of professionals who use it say that their boss does not know that they use artificial intelligence tools.

We especially highlight that HR professionals do not see the arrival of AI as a threat, quite the opposite. More than 70% of respondents expect that AI will allow them to do their tasks faster, engage in more value-added tasks, and invest more time in training and learning.

Forecasts in the future of 3 years

Although currently only 14% of professionals in the function use AI at work, it is striking that, When asked if they will use it in 3 years, 71% say yes. Additionally, 58% of HR professionals surveyed expect that AI will significantly or completely transform their jobs in the next three years.

It is also worth mentioning that The more people use AI in their jobs today, the more they expect to continue using it in the future, and the more they expect this technology will transform their jobs in the next three years. This segment points out that the main transformations that AI will bring to your work are the following, in this order: it will allow you to perform tasks in less time, you will stop doing some tasks that you do now, you will be able to do tasks that you were not able to do before. , their work will add more value to your company, the quality of their work will improve and they will be able to dedicate more time to training and learning.

‘Future for Work Institute’ will re-conduct study’HR professionals face the challenges of AI’once every year for the next 3 years and, in 2026 we will know if the professionals’ predictions come true or not.

In the words of Santiago García, Founding Partner ‘Future for work Institute: «The vision of professionals in the sector is very positive. Very few think that with the arrival of artificial intelligence they are at greater risk of losing their job. Most, on the other hand, see this technological change as an opportunity to increase the value they bring to their companies, learn new things and do higher quality work. Additionally, it should be noted that the more they use AI, the less afraid they are of it and the more optimistic they become about how their jobs can change for the better.

For his part, Andrés Ortega, Chief Talent Officer McCann World group and Member of the Board of Directors of CentRHo, considers that «It is a point of no return. If right now we can say that we belong to a generation that is either educated or digitally adopted, what AI is going to completely change is the time, the speed of the transformation. So, given this, we must think about what value we contribute and how we can take advantage of the capabilities of this tool and in this sense I would highlight two functions: on the one hand, in solving complex problems, since AI will act as that ‘ super acceleration power that you give to a vehicle that you already drive (ourselves with our capabilities); and on the other hand, in terms of creativity: these AI engines can help you create content at a higher speed, but the idea comes from human intelligence«.

In parallel, Jesús Torres Mateos, president of AEDRH, highlights: «The functions are not going to change substantially, what is going to change is the way in which we are going to perform the function. It is a transformation more linked to the process than to the substance. Jobs will evolve, but “storytelling” will remain. It is a question of “re-skilling”: understanding the possibilities of the tool to be able to use it in a way that gives us productivity and efficiency.«.

Finally, Sandra Vilaseca, Director of Talent and People Innovation at NTT Data Emeal adds: «With a prospective impact on talent, it is crucial to understand which activities of the position or mission can be transformed and which ones we are interested in or profitable to transform through AI. Instead of waiting for technology to tell us what to do, we need to understand the technology. We must all embrace it, without exceptions, to be able to have the ability to decide how we are going to use it in our favor. AI, in reality, puts completely human capabilities at the center, such as empathy, assertive communication and collaboration, and those that provide the greatest value, such as decision making and critical thinking: AI will be able to execute, and people They will have to assess whether its execution is correct or not, while deciding how to resolve possible imbalances. Therefore, AI will not replace HR professionals as long as we provide value beyond the execution of operational processes, for example, by co-leading or participating in the integration of AI in our organization and its impact on business and in talent«.
