Oversleeping boosters: The duty of politics – politics

by time news

A year ago today, the vaccination against Corona began in Germany. With great euphoria and the hope of defeating the pandemic.

The euphoria has long evaporated. The number of infections is higher than last Christmas, and the mood in the country is much more irritable.

This is of course the fault of the still too large minority of those who refused to vaccinate, but also of politics: First there was too little vaccine, then the federal and state governments underestimated the risk of mutations and recklessly closed vaccination centers and finally slept through the boosters.

Now, contrary to all promises, the government apparently only knows how to help itself with compulsory vaccination for everyone.

One thing is clear: politicians are allowed to change their minds. If new knowledge is added, they should.

But it also has to be clear: Anyone who calls for mandatory vaccination must not leave citizens in the dark: How often do I have to be vaccinated? Is there even enough vaccine available? Can I choose the manufacturer, as required by the Ethics Council, or do I have to choose what the state offers? What punishment will I face if I refuse?

The Bundestag must answer these questions. And quickly.
