A few hours before tonight’s debate with Luís Montenegro, the secretary general of the PCP presented the 30 measures that the CDU considers to be priorities for the country and which are included in the electoral program. Paulo Raimundo also responded to the PS’s call for a useful vote in the legislative elections on March 10.

The general secretary of the PCP, Paulo Raimundo, points to the increase in pensions and salaries and the reinforcement of professionals in the National Health Service (SNS). In housing, make banks support the increase in interest rates.

Paulo Raimundo is expecting a tense debate with Luís Montenegro tonight on RTP.

The face to face with the PSD leader was not going to happen, because Montenegro wanted to send Nuno Melo, coalition partner, in his place.

The PSD leader retreated and Paulo Raimundo says that there is no more talk about it: “this solution was found, it is resolved. It was a case that stopped being a case.”

Debates have marked the pre-election campaign. On Friday, Pedro Nuno Santos called for a useful vote in the PS “because there is a risk that the right and the AD will win the elections”. Paulo Raimundo says that this makes no sense and gives the example of the promise to end tolls on the old SCUTs.

“The only guarantee, for all those people who pay those tolls, that the promise will be fulfilled is not to give the majority to the PS, it is to vote for the PCP and the CDU, because it is our strength that will force all the promises that are being made are fulfilled. If we go there, the useful vote is for the PCP and the CDU”, argues Paulo Raimundo.

The PCP returned this Saturday to presenting the measures of the electoral program, with 30 priorities, starting with salary increases.

“It is urgent and it is for now, not for 2028 or 2030. In 2024, no worker can receive less than a thousand euros in salary per month”, highlights the leader of the CDU coalition.
