Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia would not limit the supply of raw materials to Europe in response to anti-Russian sanctions. According to him, it is important for Russia to maintain the status of a “reliable supplier”.
“The Russian Federation remains a reliable guarantor of energy security. Even now resources go to recipients. Russia values its reputation as a reliable supplier of these resources. The Europeans admit that we fulfill everything according to contracts,” said Mr. Peskov during a press call.
He also added that at the moment the Kremlin is conducting an in-depth analysis of the US sanctions that have affected the Russian oil and gas sector. According to Mr. Peskov, Russia will do what is “beneficial and necessary” for it.
Western countries began to impose sanctions in response to the Russian military operation in Ukraine, announced by Vladimir Putin on February 24. Yesterday, March 8, Joe Biden imposed an embargo on the purchase of Russian oil and petroleum products. The UK intends to stop importing oil from Russia by the end of the year. The Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey said that the anti-Russian sanctions of the West will have a terrible impact on the global oil market.
