The General Company for Petroleum Products, one of the formations of the Ministry of Oil, revealed today, Sunday, a plan to introduce the electronic payment service to private stations one by one, while setting the penalty for those who abstain.

The official of the company’s media division, Rafid Sadiq, told the (INA): “The private stations, from a legal standpoint, are agents for petroleum products, which are the property of the Petroleum Products Distribution Company,” noting that “the agent’s mission is to market petroleum products to citizens.” .

He pointed out, “There is a trend to introduce the electronic payment service to private stations successively through electronic payment companies contracting with the Central Bank.”

He added, “The Petroleum Products Distribution Company will monitor the performance of the private stations, with regard to the electronic payment service,” noting that “the Inspection Authority of the Petroleum Products Distribution Company will set up committees to monitor the electronic payment process at government and private fuel filling stations.”

He stressed, “The private stations that will refuse or attempt to obstruct the electronic payment service to supply citizens with fuel, we will take legal measures against them, including warnings and fines, which may lead to stopping the supply and terminating the contract between the two parties.”
