Hyderabad – The Bharat Rashtra Samiti led by K. Chandrasekhar Rao has been implicated in the phone hacking controversy. Information has come out that during the K. Chandrasekhar Rao government, the state police had tapped the phones of the opposition leaders, industrialists and prominent people including the current Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

According to the police, senior officers Additional Superintendent of Police Bhujanga Rao and Additional Superintendent of Police Thirupatanna have confessed their guilt in the incident. Three senior police officers have been arrested in connection with the incident. A notice has been sent to T. Prabhakar Rao, the former head of the State Intelligence Bureau, who is currently in the United States. Saravan Rao, who runs Telugu TV channel One News, and police officer Radha Kishan Rao have also been sent lookout notices. BRS has not responded to the allegations.

It is reported that imported phone tapping devices were installed near Revanth Reddy’s residence to intercept his phone conversations. A person named Ravi Paul, who was a technical consultant to the state intelligence, opened an office near Revanth Reddy’s residence and installed a phone tapping device. A device imported from Israel without the Centre’s permission can intercept phone conversations within a radius of 300 meters.

Apart from the opposition leaders, jewellers, land traders, industrialists, prominent people and many others were under secret surveillance by the police. There are also reports that phone tapping has led to the divorce of prominent couples. It is also reported that businessmen were threatened to donate huge sums to BRS’s party fund.

BJP leader and businessman Sharan Choudhary has also filed a complaint with the Chief Minister, alleging that last year the police officials kidnapped him and asked him to give land to the relative of former BRS leader Erabelli Dayakar Rao.
