Augsburg The weekly podcast Handelsblatt Disrupt has been awarded the Rudolf Diesel Medal in the media category. “The media landscape is constantly changing and complex content is finding less and less space in traditional media or the news,” the jury stated. “Special formats such as podcasts, blogs, vlogs, on the other hand, are ideal for this. Handelsblatt Disrupt is a podcast for people who are enthusiastic about innovation, transformation and the further development of Germany as a business location.”

Every year, a board of trustees made up of technical directors, managing directors of medium-sized companies and pioneers from the technology and engineering scene awards the Diesel Medal to personalities and companies who make a contribution to the preservation of the innovation culture in Germany through new technologies, revolutionary ideas and the courage to change .

The Diesel Medal is the oldest innovation prize in Germany and has been awarded in four categories since 1953. The entrepreneur Renate Pilz from the automation technician Pilz from Esslingen won in the category Most Successful Innovation. The prize for the most sustainable innovative achievement went to Kurt Schmalz, the managing partner of the vacuum specialist Schmalz from Glatten in the Freudenstadt district. Sabine Mellies, Romy Stühmeier and Barbara Schwarze, who use Girls’ Day to get girls excited about male-dominated careers, were honored for the best promotion of innovation.

In the Handelsblatt Disrupt podcast, editor-in-chief Sebastian Matthes discusses the future of the economy with founders, medium-sized companies and CEOs of DAX companies every week. “The award is an incentive for us to continue on the path we have taken,” said Matthes at the awards ceremony in Augsburg. “On the one hand, the Handelsblatt offers exclusive, extensively researched business journalism. At the same time, we deal more intensively than others with the question of how innovations and new technologies are changing business models, companies and ultimately the lives of millions of people. We want to help people understand what the future of business looks like.”
