Poll: Citizens’ “red cards” against the government – Dissatisfaction is growing

by time news

Indices in critical sectors are moving downwards. Growing discontent and a simultaneous decline in the prime minister’s popularity. Cracks in the circle of “blue omnipotence”

Clouds are gathering for the government with citizens’ dissatisfaction being recorded more and more in public opinion polls, denting even the prime minister’s profile. The undisputed dominance of New Democracy is not threatened, but the signs of wear and tear are evident and the drop in important indicators is significant.

On Thursday, March 21, two polls came to light with the government getting a low grade for managing accuracy, being criticized for (not) clearing up the Tempe case while the percentage of those who say the country is going in the wrong direction is increasing direction.

In the poll by Metron Analysis on behalf of MEGA, there are many “bells” for Maximos and they strongly reflect the increase in citizens’ dissatisfaction.

The five most important problems
The first resounding “bell” is the increase in the percentage of those who answer that the country is going in the wrong direction, from 60% in February 2024 to 66% in March of the same year.

Survey participants rank the country’s top five problems with accuracy winning by a wide margin. This is followed by the economy and with much lower rates the crisis of institutions, crime and government inadequacy/insecurity.

The areas where the government performs worst are crime, dealing with natural disasters, dealing with corruption and dealing with inflation.

It gets the best marks in attracting tourism, in the digital transformation of the state, in the defense armoring of the country and in Greek-Turkish relations.

In the areas where the grade is low, the percentage of those who express a negative opinion is overwhelming with more than 7 out of ten citizens reddening the specific graph.

The fifth month in a row that the positive assessment of the government has declined
All this is reflected in an overall negative opinion of the government. Favorable opinions fall from 35% in February to 30% in March, from 39% in November. Negative opinions jump to 66%, while the index for the opposition officer is even worse, but she is starting to gather dissatisfaction compared to the previous month.

The retreat also extends to the retreat of positive evaluations for the prime minister. Kyriakos Mitsotakis loses 6% and from 40% falls to 34% with the negative evaluation reaching 61%.

The poll gives a “red card” to private universities with 53% placing it negatively and 42% positively.

Regarding the train accident in Tempe, there is a widespread feeling in society that neither the judicial nor the political system has moved effectively to assign responsibility. This is what 88% of respondents believe, with negative opinions being extremely high among those who declare themselves “right-wing” and “center-right”.

In the “fire” to be precise, Tempi is also the government
In the opinion poll on behalf of Action24, the ruling party keeps the rest of the contenders for the first place at a safe distance, but based on the qualitative characteristics, the citizens’ dissatisfaction exists and in fact in high percentages.

It is characteristic that 82% of the respondents answer “a little/not at all” satisfied with the government’s measures to deal with punctuality.

Regarding the government’s initiatives to clarify the case of the Tempe tragedy, seven out of ten answer “not at all”.
