The volume of crowdfunding fees in culture over the past five years has increased by 1.6 times to 279.3 million rubles, follows from a study by the information agency in the field of culture and entertainment InterMedia. The number of crowd sponsors in this area increased by 1.4 times over the specified period and amounted to more than 128,500 people.

Crowdfunding began to develop widely and systematically in Russia with the advent of specialized platforms. The first of these was the crowdfunding platform Kroogi, launched in 2007 (now closed). Gradually, the goals and objectives of the training camp evolved. Previously, fees in some cases were the only way to implement a particular creative project. But now crowdfunding is often used as a marketing tool.
