Pope Francis delivered his message to the participants of the 6th ‘Brazilian Social Week’ organized by the Pastoral Commission for Social-Transformation Action of the Brazilian Bishops’ Conference. In his message, the Pope underlined the need to stand with the poor and the disenfranchised.

Pope Francis delivered his message to the participants of the 6th ‘Brazilian Social Week’ organized by the Pastoral Commission for Social-Transformation Action of the Brazilian Bishops’ Conference. In 1991, this kind of social week program was organized for the first time in the country. In his message, the Pope reiterated the need to include the marginalized in society.
The Pope said to stand with poor people and those in need of infrastructure in their struggle for land, housing and work. The Pope suggested that decisions aimed at the good of the nation should be based on a new economy and a revival of democratic values that would help build a society with true popular participation. The Pope also shared his gratitude to those who are coordinating things accordingly.
The Pope added that he hopes this Social Week will produce many results in favor of a more just society. The Pope wished everyone to be able to implement universal brotherhood and social friendship in their lives. The Pope reminded them not to be indifferent to social injustices, but to strive to see the face of Jesus in those who are victims of them.
