Port concessionaires project investments of about US$190 million in 2023

The port terminal concessionaire companies, under the scope of the Supervisory Body for Investment in Public Use Transport Infrastructure (Ositrán), plan to execute close to USD 188 million in works aimed at modernizing their infrastructure and improving service levels for the benefit of users and commercial activities.

Within the framework of the presentations of the 2023 Business Plans, the provider companies highlighted that, despite the negative impact caused by the political crisis, the Russia-Ukraine war and the post-COVID-19 recession, port activities are recovering at a good pace .

Thus, the company Terminales Portuarios Euroandinos Paita SA, which recently reinforced the breakwater pier under the supervision of Ositrán, specified that, in 2023, it will invest USD 38.2 million in port infrastructure and equipment works. Likewise, it expects to increase to 550 the ships served and obtain income of USD 76.4 million.

In the Multipurpose Port Terminal of Salaverry, the execution of the Construction of the liquid hydrocarbons terminal project is planned for the last quarter of 2023; in addition to investments in civil works and equipment. These improvements would require an initial investment of USD 11.6 million. The increase in the attention of ships, cruise ships and containers will allow revenues of USD 48.8 million, 8% more than in 2022.

For its part, Terminal Internacional del Sur SA (TISUR) projects the execution of investments for an amount greater than USD 6.2 million.

DP World Callao SRL plans to continue with the execution of mandatory and additional works related to Phase 2 of the New South Zone Container Terminal, which includes the extension of the quay to 1,050 meters, 3 quay gantry cranes and 16 yard gantry cranes, projecting an investment of USD 123.8 million.

Terminal Portuario Paracas SA plans to make additional investments to improve productivity and operational processes; and the mandatory investment of Stage 2, which includes the acquisition of a Liebher port mobile crane, an ecological hopper for Clinker. Thus, for the year 2023 it estimates to invest approximately USD 8.2 million. In addition, it estimates an increase in cargo movement of 10%.

Representatives of the Multipurpose North Terminal indicated that the focus of 2023 will be the active management of the preparatory activities for the start of the execution of the works of Stage 3A, foreseen in Addendum 1. The objective, they indicated, is to start construction towards end of 2023.

Meanwhile, the company COPAM, concessionaire of the New Yurimaguas Port Terminal – Nueva Reforma, indicated that this year they will carry out maintenance activities, land works, river and port equipment, as stipulated in their concession contract.

The concessionary company Hidrovía Amazónica SA (Cohidro), administrator of the fluvial infrastructure, which this 2023 will continue with the operation and maintenance of 13 hydrometeorological stations, also presented its business plans and objectives.
