by time news

Time.news – Portugal has extended the closure of the border with Spain to 15 April for tourist traffic due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Interior Ministry has announced the decision which is coordinated with Spain on the “land and river borders”. Controls will also be made for rail traffic. The measure does not apply to freight traffic or to cross-border workers, much less to emergency services.

After two months of general closure, Lisbon has started a slow and gradual easing of anti-contagion measures since mid-March. From this week the museums, terraces and cafes will reopen. At the end of January, Portugal had 16,500 cases per day on average. On Sunday there were 193 new cases and 4 deaths.
