At the call of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1971, the best children of the nation jumped to liberate the country. Freedom fighters risked their lives and prepared to make the highest sacrifice for the country. The history of their sacrifice will build our future from generation to generation.

This was said by the chief guest at a discussion meeting on the occasion of National Genocide Day and the commemoration of the historical incident of the first barricade in the Liberation War at the Krishibid Institute of the capital on Monday (March 25).

The minister referred to the first barricade under the leadership of the present Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan against the massacre of Pakistan Army’s Operation Searchlight at Farmgate on the night of March 25 as a historic and significant chapter in the national life. He assured all possible cooperation from the local government ministry to preserve the memory of national pride.

Tajul Islam referred to the attempt to erase Bangabandhu’s name from history during the BNP and military rule and said that the people of Bangladesh stopped the attempt to hide the man who spent his entire life and politics for the welfare of the people of the country.

At this time, the local government minister emphasized on taking appropriate initiatives to preserve the memory of the liberation war and freedom fighters and said that such a monument will be a story of encouragement and inspiration for the future generations.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan presided over the event under the title of ‘Night of Genocide and Abhijatri of Light’, Awami League presidium member Shahjahan Khan spoke as the main speaker.

Senior journalist Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, heroic freedom fighter and actor Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, chairman of Hamim Group AK Azad Chowdhury MP, heroic freedom fighter Benazir Ahmed MP also spoke.
