Defining actions to prevent irregular migration and generating opportunities for Ecuadorian migrants were the central topics of the meeting between the president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, and the mayor of New York, Eric Adams.

The meeting took place on Friday, March 1 in New York, within the framework of the visit that the president has been making to the United States since February 29.

The mayor of the Big Apple highlighted that around 500,000 Ecuadorians currently reside in New York.

Given this, the president thanked the compatriots for the welcome they receive through temporary stay and basic services.

Noboa recalled that one of the actions that were adopted to address the immigration situation was to request Temporary Protected Status (TPS) from the United States, the request for which was formalized on January 23 of this year and is in process. White House analysis team.

Other measures implemented are related to public policies and awareness campaigns on orderly, regular and safe human mobility.

And he highlighted the support that the United States provides to Ecuador to restore peace. In addition, he spoke of cooperation through police intelligence to dismantle financial structures of criminal organizations and combat money laundering.
