The Prime Minister’s office has instructed the secretaries to be cautious about the overall situation including commodity prices, law and order situation, traffic congestion, electricity and gas supply ahead of the holy Ramadan and Eid.

On Tuesday (March 5) at noon in the meeting room of the Prime Minister’s office, the Chief Secretary of the Prime Minister. In the meeting held under the chairmanship of Tofazzal Hossain Mia, these instructions were given on various issues related to stocking, supply, price situation of daily essential products in the coming Ramadan.

Md. Tofazzal Hossain Mia gave this instruction by quoting the Prime Minister in view of Roza and Eid.

In the meeting, the secretaries of various ministries presented the plans of their respective departments. The commerce secretary has been instructed to increase vigilance in the holy month of Ramadan so that the price of goods does not increase in any way. All concerned have been instructed to be vigilant and take necessary steps to prevent hoarding.

The Ministry of Home Affairs was instructed to take necessary measures to ensure that the law and order situation does not deteriorate.

The Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources has been instructed to maintain normal gas and electricity supply during Iftar-Sehri.

After the meeting, the Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister said that there is much more food and daily commodities stocked in the country this year than in previous years. Sufficient food grains and essential commodities are available in the market. We have been able to properly prepare for fasting. When there is no problem for anyone to take what they need, we will be able to celebrate fast and Eid very well.

He also said that we have given necessary instructions to everyone so that the daily commodities reach the people during fasting and the supply chain is in order. Government has taken food friendly program for low income people. Foodstuffs will be supplied in two installments around Roza and Eid through OMS program and TCB. Oil, sugar, pulses, chickpeas, onions and dates will be given twice to one crore people.

People’s sufferings will be reduced during fasting and urged all concerned to implement all these instructions of the Prime Minister. Tofazzal Hossain Mia.

Apart from this, issues of ensuring easy ticketing, maintaining order on highways, renovating roads and bridges before Eid, increasing the number of ferries by sea, curbing excess passenger transport, increasing domestic flights by air and salary of garment and jute mill workers were discussed in the meeting.

In the meeting, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Ministry of Local Government, Ministry of Industries, Ministry of Labor and Employment, Cabinet Division (Coordination and Reforms), Bridges Department, Ministry of Textiles and Jute, Ministry of Food, Department of Electricity, Ministry of Religion, Secretary and senior officials of Ministry of Shipping and heads of various government agencies were present.
