Will the Princess of Wales attend Royal Ascot? The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, will not be attending Royal Ascot this year as she continues to find the right balance after her cancer diagnosis. She was originally listed as a guest to join the King and Queen in the carriage procession but will no longer be attending.
Prince William is slated to award race prizes during the second day of the meet. Her recent public appearances include Trooping the Colour in London on Saturday, where she rode in a carriage with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. The Wales family joined the King, Queen, and other senior royals on the Buckingham Palace balcony to watch a Red Arrows flypast.
Recent Public Appearances
On Sunday, the royals attended Windsor Castle’s St George’s Chapel for the Order of the Garter service, which Kate was unable to attend last year due to her cancer treatment.
The Princess of Wales shared her cancer diagnosis with the public last March, after starting preventative chemotherapy a month earlier. She finished her treatment in September last year.
Looking Forward
In January, Kate said it was “a relief to now be in remission”.
A message on social media, signed ‘C’, said: “As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. “I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to.”
