Mumbai: Actress Leena Maria Paul has been implicated in a Rs 200 crore scam involving more film stars. Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez has been questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for more than seven hours. The ED’s action follows the release of a private photo of Leena’s partner Sukash Chandrasekhar and Jacqueline Fernandez.
Chennai native Sukash Chandrasekhar and his partner actress Leena Maria Paul are accused in several cases of defrauding businessmen and politicians. The two were last arrested last August on charges of embezzling Rs 200 crore from the wife of former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivender, who is in jail on a loan fraud charge. In another case, Sukash was lodged in Tihar Jail in Delhi.
Lena was also arrested after it became clear that she was involved in Sukash’s dealings outside the prison. The ED had also registered a case against the two for money laundering in the case. Private photos of Sukash and Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez were released yesterday. Sukash spreads a mirror selfie of him kissing Jacqueline. It is alleged that the selfie was taken while Sukash was out of jail on parole.
Investigative agencies have also received evidence that the two met several times in Chennai. Based on this, the ED questioned the actress. Sukash was called from jail for the scam using the phone seen in the photo. The phone was powered by an Israeli SIM card used in the scam.
The ED is investigating whether the actress was involved in the scam. Actress Jacqueline had responded that the kind of news that she has a relationship with Sukash is untrue. Last August, 16 luxury cars and two kilograms of gold were seized in a raid on the bungalows of the two in Chennai.
