Putin instructed to ensure vaccination of foreigners from COVID-19

President Vladimir Putin instructed by June 30 to report on measures to ensure vaccination against coronavirus on a reimbursable basis for foreigners in Russia. Until July 15, the President ordered to organize the vaccination of foreign migrants, identifying the sources of funding for the relevant activities. This is stated in the list of instructions following the results of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

The government was instructed to “ensure, for the prevention of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the possibility of vaccination on a reimbursable basis for foreign citizens and stateless persons in the territory of the Russian Federation, while providing for compliance with sanitary and epidemiological requirements.” The government and regional executive authorities were instructed to “organize vaccination of foreign citizens and stateless persons arriving in the Russian Federation in order to carry out labor activities for the prevention of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), having identified the sources of funding for relevant activities.”

Earlier, within the framework of the SPIEF, Mr. Putin said that foreign citizens would be able to get vaccinated with Russian-made vaccines as part of the vaccine tourism program. He noted that the domestic pharmaceutical industry is ready to further increase the production of vaccines. “We not only fully meet our own needs, but we can also provide foreigners to come to Russia and get vaccinated here,” the president added. The head of state noted that vaccination remains free of charge for Russian citizens.

In Russia, over the past day, 20,538 cases of coronavirus infection were registered. This is 5.2% less than the day before (21,665). Prior to that, the number of people infected had been growing steadily, from 16,715 on Tuesday. The total number of cases reached 5,451,291.
