CSTO General Secretary Imanghali Tasmaghambetov said that Armenia has not recently participated in the work of the secretariat, but has not sent any notices about leaving the organization. kommersant.ru writes about this.
“Yerevan has not really participated in the work of the CSTO Secretariat recently. Regarding the mentioned statements of RA officials, I will say that the secretariat has not received an official statement from Yerevan regarding the suspension of CSTO membership,” he said, adding that the secretariat regularly informs the relevant structures of Yerevan about the decisions taken and to be taken.
At the same time, CSTO General Secretary did not rule out that new countries may join the organization. According to Tasmaghambetov, the CSTO offers very favorable conditions for participation, including giving priority to political and diplomatic methods of solving crisis situations.
Currently, the CSTO consists of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
