New Delhi: In the year 2019, BCCI had banned Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler Rasikh Salam Dar for two years. The allegation was that Rasikh had used a fake birth certificate to join the Indian Covid-19 team. Rasikh’s career was under threat, but now this young player is forgetting his bitter memories and is showing amazing performance in IPL 2024. He played an important role in helping Delhi win against Mumbai Indians on the evening of 27 April. Three important wickets were taken for just 34 runs in four overs. Broke the back of Mumbai’s batting order by taking the wickets of Hardik Pandya, Nehal Vadhera and Mohammad Nabi.

Was part of Mumbai and KKR

Rasikh Salam Dar, resident of Kulgram district of Jammu and Kashmir, was born on 5 April 2000. Before Delhi Capitals in IPL, he was a part of the squads of Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders. Rasikh became the youngest cricketer (17 years) to play for Mumbai Indians. Mumbai Indians bought him in the 2019 auction for his base price of Rs 20 lakh. Rasikh was reprimanded by BCCI for his style of celebration after taking a wicket in the match against Gujarat Titan. He was found guilty of a Level 1 offense under Level 2.5 under the IPL Code of Conduct.

Fake certificate and 2 years ban

The Board of School Education had submitted a report to the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association regarding the age of Rasiq Salam Dar. It became clear from this report that the cricketer had tampered with his age. Rasikh was accused of tampering with the marksheet of an acquaintance and showing his age as 17 years, whereas at that time he was 19 years old. For this reason Rasikh was banned for two years. He made his first-class debut for Jammu and Kashmir against Guwahati in December 2018.
