Textiles and Jute Minister Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak has alleged that the leaders of the divided BNP are raising anti-India slogans to appease the Pakistani ISI, which was defeated in the Liberation War.

He made this complaint in his speech as the chief guest at the discussion meeting titled ‘International Recognition of Genocide’ organized by Sampriti Bangladesh at Sirdap Auditorium in the capital on Monday (March 25).

Jahangir Kabir Nanak said, the recognition of this genocide is in the document published by the government of Pakistan itself. The white paper published by the Pakistan government during the liberation war on the whole Pakistan crisis states that more than 100,000 people were killed from March 1 to March 25 night in 1971.

Textiles and jute minister said that 53 long years have passed by showing various pictures of the massacre by the Pakistani invading forces. We are still shouting at the top of our voices, demanding recognition of the genocide. By killing the Father of the Nation in 1975, killing four national leaders inside the prison, they have destroyed our holy constitution gained through the liberation war of 1971. Secularism has been killed.

Awami League presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak said that this Bangladesh has been going in the opposite direction for 21 years. An attempt has been made to erase the history of the liberation war from Bangladesh. An attempt has been made to delete the name of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib. The record of the historic March 7 speech has been taken down. Those of us who tried to play that speech were beaten, tortured and arrested by the police. This was 21 years of Bangladesh! In that Bangladesh, under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, this Bengali nation brought back democracy by protesting the right to vote and rice. Therefore, today’s generation is getting to know the true history of the independence war of Bangladesh.

Urging Sampriti Bangladesh to create awareness nationally and internationally to acknowledge the genocide, the Minister of Textiles and Jute said that in order to acknowledge this genocide, we need to create an awakening among all Bengalis not only in our country but internationally. Bengalis staying outside should also be made aware to observe this day. We who are freedom fighters, who fought in the battlefield, are still alive; I could have died with self-satisfaction if 25th March was recognized as Genocide Day.

Sampriti Bangladesh president Piyush Banerjee presided over the discussion meeting organized by the member secretary of the organization. Mamun Al Mahtab is a dreamer.
