/ Real Madrid club management is considering the option of contracting with Portuguese Pepe, Porto defender, to fill the gap in defense that he suffers from after the injury of Austrian David Alaba, according to what was reported by the British website “The Athletic”.
David Alaba suffered a cruciate ligament tear during the match between Real Madrid and Villarreal (4-1), in the 17th round of the Spanish League, “La Liga”, to join the “Merengue” battalion of injured people during the current season.
This is the third cruciate ligament injury within the royal team this season, after Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and Brazilian defender Eder Militao.
According to the British website “The Athletic”, Real Madrid’s management is studying the idea of contracting with the 40-year-old veteran Pepe, who previously defended the “Merengue” colors during the period from 2007 to 2017.
The source explained that Pepe will come to Real Madrid for only 6 months in order to fill the gap that the team is suffering from, as he is performing at outstanding levels with his team, Porto, despite his advanced age.
On the other hand, the famous British website confirmed that Real Madrid was planning to sign the Spanish Aymeric Laporte, the Saudi Al-Nasr defender, but Al-Alamy rejected the player’s departure in any way.
It is noteworthy that Pepe achieved many achievements and titles with Real Madrid under the leadership of his friend and compatriot, the star Cristiano Ronaldo, most notably 3 European Champions League titles during the 2014, 2016 and 2017 editions.
