Record-breaking viewership for IPL 2023 opening match on TV and mobile app Jio Cinema

MUMBAI: On the opening day of the IPL, there was a huge increase in the number of people watching the matches on television and mobile. 16.8 crore viewers watched the match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers on TV, according to Disney Star, the owners of Star Sports. The total viewing time is 1276 crore minutes.

This is a record in the inaugural match. The first day in 2023 was 8.7 billion minutes. Jio Cinema, which telecasts IPL on apps and online, had 11.3 crore viewers on its first day. 51 percent is an increase from the first day of last season.
