Referendum in Switzerland, yes to same-sex marriages win

Time.news – The Swiss said yes to gay marriage, according to initial estimates by the polling institute gfs.bern immediately after the close of the vote.

The yes comes as no surprise, given that polls prior to the vote had always given a large majority to supporters of same-sex marriage, especially opposed by the populist SVP, the country’s largest party, and some religious groups.

According to projections, the Swiss approved the question with 64% of the votes.
