With a dedication of five films to “Motherhood”, the film screenings of the “Exavda” Artistic Association return.

The beginning will be with “Terms of endearment” (1983) by James L. Brooks, a tender touching film, with Shirley MacLaine, Jack Nicholson, Deborah Winger and Danny de Vito.
The premise of the play focuses on the complex and varied development of the relationship between an eccentric mother and her daughter. Emma is a girl, trying to prove to herself and others that she is not just a momma’s girl. But her mother believes that only if she is in complete control, can her daughter find happiness. The young woman makes her revolution and marries someone, of which her mother does not approve, and has two children with him. But this marriage is not ideal, her husband has a mistress. When Emma becomes ill with cancer, she decides to entrust the guardianship of her children to her mother after her death.
This is a deeply human film, which follows the complicated relationship between a mother and her daughter over a period of 30 years, a relationship that gives rise to mixed emotions and acrobats between storm and tenderness.
The movie “Affections” was based on the 1975 novel of the same name by Larry McMurtry, while the film adaptation was signed by James L. Brooks and the music was edited by Michael Gore
The film “Love Affair” opened in American theaters on November 23, 1983 and was a box office smash, receiving eleven Academy Award nominations, eventually winning five awards, including “Best Actress” for Shirley MacLaine and “Best Supporting Actor” » for Jack Nicholson.
