The representation of the swearing in of the fighters and the declaration of the Revolution of 1821 will be presented again this year by the Cultural Association of Pastida “Kamari” in Rhodes Town on Monday 25/03/2024, immediately after the parade, in the forecourt of the Holy Church of the Annunciation of the Theotokos (fountain) in co-organization with the South Aegean region, thus wanting to pay honor and gratitude to those who fought for the creation of a free, independent and modern state.

On March 21, 1821, history recorded one of the first victorious moments of the Greek Revolution in the area of ​​Kalavryta with their liberation. Clergy, candidates, captains and people had earlier been in Agia Lavra for the feast of Agios Alexios on March 17, whose honor Kara is kept in the Monastery, a donation of Emperor Manuel Palaiologos since 1398.

On that day the captains and the charioteers in front of the curtain of the beautiful gate with the Dormition of the Virgin, which was to remain in history known as the Banner of the 21st century, with the blessings of the Old Patras Germanos set out for the liberation of Kalavryta, which resulted from a previous 5 day siege/war.

The Cultural Association of Pastida “Kamari” honors that day, which marked the sound of Freedom in the land of their ancestors, with the Reenactment of the events that took place in the historic Monastery of Agia Lavra, a small tribute to those who fought for Christ the faith to the Saint and to her country Eleftheria.
