Granny’s Rug, a work with special meaning

What makes this rug so special? The answer is found in its history. The Granny Rug is more than an ephemeral work of art; It is a heartfelt tribute to the memory of Mrs. María Faustina Pardo, a fervent devotee of the La Reseña procession and the grandmother of Jorge Corleto, founder of the collective.

Since its first appearance, this rug has enchanted everyone and everyone, not only for its dazzling aesthetics, but also for the innovative technique used in its production.

Unlike traditional rugs, which are usually created with molds, this work is distinguished by making use of the techniques used in painting with conventional materials, but replacing brushes with hands and paint with sawdust.

This manual approach gives each rug an unrivaled uniqueness and artistic character. What a chilero!

It was created for the first time in 2015 and has now become a tradition of the time. Every Holy Tuesday, the Chucho Callejero Collective meets to pay tribute to the memory of Doña María and share her passion for art with everyone present.

The ninth Granny Rug is not only a visually stunning celebration, but a moving testament to the power of art to unite, inspire and remember.
