LG Twins Jeong Joo-hyun (34) pledged to become a helpful coach to hard-working juniors.

Joo-Hyun Jeong held a retirement ceremony before the second game of the home opening series against the Hanwha Eagles on the 24th.

On this day, Jung Joo-hyun received a plaque of appreciation, a commemorative picture frame, a bouquet of flowers, and an autographed uniform frame at the retirement ceremony, and participated in the first pitch after the ceremony.

Chung Joo-hyun, who joined LG in 2009, played only for LG until 2023. During his 15 professional seasons, he appeared in 762 games and had a career batting average of 0.237, 392 hits, 153 RBIs, 260 runs, and 68 stolen bases.

This year, he is serving as the base running coach for the remaining LG Twins and is passing on his experience and know-how to his juniors.

Jeong Joo-hyeon said, “I felt like the retirement ceremony was burdensome, so I asked the players to keep it as small as possible. “I was a little emotional when the family message was shown on video at the retirement ceremony,” he said.

LG said things have changed since Kim Hyun-soo came.

He said, “There were many good managers and coaches at LG, but the biggest thing was that Kim Hyun-soo joined our team. In the past, training was forced, but that changed after Hyunsu came. “Because the seniors worked hard, the juniors started training voluntarily,” he said.

He said that his strengths include having experience in both the first and second teams and playing various positions.

Joo-Hyeon Jeong said, “I can teach you both the infield and outfield defense in the remaining group. “I think having experience in various positions is also helpful,” he said. “There are a lot of players in the second team who work really hard. I want those players to do well, but I get upset when they don’t. “I will work hard so that those players can do well,” he said.

He laughed and said that the most memorable thing was winning the Korean Series last year.

He said, “I didn’t play much last year, but winning the Korean Series is what I remember most.”

Regarding his somewhat early retirement, “I’ve been asked that question a lot. It would be nice to have more (active duty), but the situation was not good. Another team didn’t want to go. “I thought it wasn’t a bad idea to start early when a good opportunity presented itself,” he explained.

Jeong Joo-hyun, who experienced coaching for two months, said it was more difficult than when she was a player.

He said, “It’s been two months since I coached, and it’s really hard. When he was a player, he just had to eat the food prepared for him, but as a coach, he has to prepare everything. “He doesn’t even have time to sit down,” he laughed.
