New Delhi: The All India Football Federation has released its ‘Vision 2047’ roadmap to make India the powerhouse of Asian football on the 100th anniversary of Independence. The roadmap aims to make India one of the top four football nations in Asia, host one of the best leagues in Asia and create a great football environment.

ISL and I-League have 14 teams each

A three-tier national league with 40 teams will be formed. The existing Indian Super League and I-League will be expanded to include 14 teams each. The I-League will have 12 teams in the second division. State championships for winning teams in leagues centered on cities and districts, youth leagues and elite youth leagues at regional and state levels for clubs and academies. Winners of the State Youth League will qualify for the Elite Youth League.

Implement Vision 2047 divided into six plans of four years each. First Phase By 2026:

Targets for 2026:

Football league in four tiers including women’s league with 10 teams, second division with eight teams and five zonal leagues with eight teams each. The new women’s youth league will see players play a minimum of 14 matches. By 2027, women’s youth football program should be implemented in 20 states.

Grass root programs involving 3.5 crore children in 100 villages. 10 lakh registered players. Football for school education for 2.5 crore children.

By 2047, players will be guaranteed a minimum of 55 matches per season

Encourage women coaches, referees and match commissioners and ensure minimum wages for women players.

50,000 active coaches will be created across the country (including around 4,500 AIFFC licensed coaches).

Aiming for FIFA Men’s and Women’s Under-17 World Cup qualification

Special census aimed at improving the infrastructure of professional clubs and measures to increase investment.

Grading and licensing standards will be in place by 2024

The All India Football Federation National Center of Excellence will be fully operational by 2026. A mega football park will also be set up.

AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey:

The aim is to revive the glory days of Indian football in the 1950s and 60s and once again become the powerhouse of Asian football.

By the federation’s centenary year in 2036, India will be one of the top seven football nations in Asia. It will be a strong contender in the World Cup qualifiers.
