Firefighters were called to the scene and worked to extinguish the flames. Several Molotov cocktails that were thrown were found at the scene.
Family members have previously reported severe harassment by their Arab neighbors. Their vehicles have been set on fire nine times in recent months.
Firefighters and Rescue reported that at 10:30 PM, a report was received at the District Control Center about the burning of an apartment in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of Jerusalem. Fire and rescue forces rushed to the scene found a well-developed fire in a building belonging to a Jewish family living in a two-story building.
Four crane-assisted firefighters worked at the scene to extinguish the fire and scan the building to make sure there were no casualties or trapped.
Reshef Haim Mizrahi, commander of the ‘Nation Station’ shift, who commanded the incident: “The fire broke out on the second floor and threatened to spread to other parts of the house. We acted quickly to prevent further property damage. M., one of the Arab neighbors in the neighborhood, whose house is next to the family house that was set on fire, told the Ynet website that last night he heard “knocks” on his door, and then “people fleeing.” When he went out to check the meaning of the matter, he saw smoke rising from the house of the Jewish family.
“I’m the only one still talking to him in the neighborhood,” he said. It does not seem that they wanted to scare him – but to actually burn them alive. “
