The Sergei Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation Energia has prepared a road map for the exploration of the Moon, according to which sending cosmonauts to the satellite is planned for 2031-2040. This was announced by the general designer, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Solovyov, transmits TASS.
The road map was presented at the plenary session of the 15th International Scientific and Practical Conference “Manned Space Flights” at the Cosmonaut Training Center named after. Yu. A. Gagarin.
According to the document, in 2031-2040. it is planned to launch manned expeditions, including the first landing on the Moon. It is expected that during this period the extraction and use of water and oxygen will begin on the Earth’s natural satellite. Geological research is planned to develop production technologies from local resources. For this purpose, experimental complexes and equipment for drilling and excavation will be used.
Construction of the lunar base is scheduled for 2041-2050. Further exploration of outer space is planned, including the extraction of rare resources and the launch of expeditions into deep space. This will require the creation on the satellite of complexes for the production and storage of fuel components, orbital assembly and refueling facilities.
RSC Energia is the main developer of Russian modules for the International Space Station (ISS). The company ensures their launch and operation in orbit, as well as the launch of transport manned spacecraft of the Soyuz series and transport cargo spacecraft of the Progress series.
The lunar program was resumed in Russia in 2021. On August 11, Russia launched the Luna-25 interplanetary automatic station to the satellite. On August 17, she took the first image of the lunar surface, showing the Zeeman crater on the far side of the Moon. On August 20, Roscosmos announced the crash of the Luna-25 mission. On August 21, the price of shares of RSC Energia fell by 20.4%.
