The Russian military used the Platform-M attack robotic systems for the first time during the West-2021 exercise, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the Ministry of Defense.
The complexes, armed with machine guns and grenade launchers, were used at military training grounds near Kaliningrad to practice the destruction of militants in urban environments, as well as to create passages in minefields.
Joint strategic exercises of the armed forces of Russia and Belarus are held every two years. The practical actions of the troops will take place from 10 to 16 September at nine training ranges. Up to 200,000 military personnel will participate in the exercise. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that they are held solely for training and checking the coherence of the armed forces of Russia and Belarus. The main part of the exercises will take place on the Belarusian territory.
