According to him, the Kremlin’s plans are currently not fully known. But it is clear that the Russians are creating a group of more than 100 thousand – this will probably be an offensive. But perhaps they will replenish their units that are losing their combat effectiveness.
According to him, there is a possibility that by the beginning of summer the Russians may have certain forces to carry out appropriate offensive operations in one of the directions. At the same time, he noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will do everything possible to inflict as many losses on the enemy as possible so that all their resources that they form are involved in the battle.
Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War also warned about the possibility of a new large-scale offensive. Experts are convinced that new Russian groups are unlikely to be able to function as cohesive large-scale formations for penetration or use this year. At the same time, according to Ukrainian military observer Konstantin Mashovets, the Russians plan that the bulk of their “strategic reserves” will be put into action ahead of the Russian offensive planned for the summer of 2024. However, he considers it unlikely that the invaders will be able to staff these troops to full capacity due to a lack of material resources and manpower.
