Russian short film “The Trap” won the Golden Bear at the Berlinale

Golden Bear Berlin Film Festival got short film “The Trap” by Russian director Anastasia Weber. The main prize of the Film Forum was given to the work of the Spanish director Carla Simon “Alcarras”.

The Silver Bear at the 72nd Berlinale for Best Director was awarded to Frenchwoman Claire Denis for the film With Love and Determination. Meltem Kaptan (Rabye Kurnaz vs. George W. Bush) won the Silver Bear for Best Leading Role. “Silver Bear” for Best Supporting Actress went to Laura Basuki (“Before, Now and Then”). The Silver Bear for Best Screenplay went to Laila Steeler (Rabiya Kurnaz vs. George W. Bush).

“The Trap” tells about the life of young people. The protagonist of the film fights for the girlfriend of a classmate from college. His sister teaches at school during the day and dances at raves at night. Their whole life is a trap.

The Berlinale was held from 10 to 20 February.
