Five months after receiving an 18-month suspension for sexual assault, Kevin Escoffier saw his sanction canceled due to a procedural flaw, the French Sailing Federation (FFVoile) announced this Friday.

“The French Sailing Federation took note last Friday of the proposal transmitted by the CNOSF conciliator relating to the decision taken by the FFVoile Appeal Federation Council on January 10 against Kevin Escoffier,” he said. -she indicated in a press release.

“The FFVoile notes that the conciliator considers that the decision of the Federal Appeal Council of the FFVoile is tainted by a procedural defect because the disciplinary appeal body is accused of not having sufficiently guaranteed the principle of contradictory,” the court continues.

The Federation, however, welcomed the conclusions of the conciliator who “considers, taking into account the body of evidence brought to his attention, that the FFV was justified in initiating disciplinary proceedings against the applicant”.

The skipper is accused of “inappropriate behavior” and sexual assault on a young woman during a stopover of The Ocean Race, in June 2023 in the United States. In addition to his suspension, Kevin Escoffier also received a temporary suspension of his license for 5 years as well as a 10-year ineligibility for the governing bodies of the FFVoile.
