Every December 7, the Catholic Church celebrates Saint Ambrose, bishop of Milan, theologian, Father and Doctor of the Church. Ambrose was the brother of Marcelina and Satyrus, also saints. Along with Saint Jerome, Saint Augustine and Saint Gregory the Great, Saint Ambrose of Milan is part of the group of the four Fathers of the Latin Church.

The contribution of this saint to the Church is immense, and it is so in several aspects. The one that is most often emphasized is that concerning doctrine. Ambrosio’s work travels through various fields of theology: morality, ascetic life, spirituality, dogmatics, exegetics; and in all of them he stands out for the magnificence of him.

Among his best-known writings are the famous commentaries on the Psalms, the treatise on the mysteries of God, and a set of catechetical texts on the sacraments.
