Salary
Minister Manusha Nanayakkara has said that there is no fund to pay the salaries of government employees, but the Election Commission will decide whether elections should be held.
He mentioned this during his visit to Jaffna today.
He further informed that it is the duty of the National Election Commission to decide the election day, to decide whether to hold the election or to decide where to get the money for the election.
No money to pay salary
But if the Election Commission announces the election, we are ready for the election. Currently there is no money to carry the country.
There is no money even to pay government employees. As there is no money in the country, there is no money even to buy school uniforms and school equipments for school students.
Even to meet the cost of essential commodities and transport services and other expenses, the country is facing a lack of cash.
The Election Commission will decide whether the election should be held in the absence of funds to repair the roads that need to be repaired and even the damaged roads.
We are ready if the Election Commission decides to hold the election in this condition and is ready to find the funds.
