Scheme to appoint foreign player as head coach; Trouble for Rahul Dravid’s position: BCCI hints

by time news

Mumbai: Rahul Dravid is the head coach of the Indian team. Accusations continue to be made against him. There have been opinions that the reason for India’s continuous failure in ICC series is because they did not give a chance to show consistent performance in the main series like Asia Cup and T20 World Cup.

In this case, now his head coach responsibility is questionable. In that regard, it has been reported that BCCI is planning to hire a foreigner as the new head coach, and thus, Dravid will soon step down from his role. There is no official information about this. All the decisions in this regard are in the hands of BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Committee.

Commenting on the matter, a senior BCCI official said, “Nothing is finalized yet. We are exploring several avenues. Rahul is definitely in our plans. But he also has a workload. Our full focus is on the World Cup in India. We are determined to win the World Cup.

So, for obvious reasons, there is no focus on T20 right now. There is a lot of discussion going on. But the final decision rests with the Cricket Advisory Board and selectors. And it will take some time,” he said.

After the T20 World Cup, India lost the ODI series against Bangladesh under Dravid 1-2. Due to this, there are already fears about the 50 over World Cup series to be held in 2023. The Sri Lankan team will be touring India from January 3 to play one-day and T20 series.
