We are renovating an old home, it will be our future habitual residence, in the end we mortgaged the one that is habitual today and will not be so when we finish the works, it was easier for us.

We asked for prices from Santander where we have had an account since 1999 (Banesto) and we are still waiting for them to tell us something, well if they granted, but the price is already something they don’t even say.

To Sabadell where we have an account from the year 91 or 92 I think, when it was Banco NatWest… 80% of the works without land, and the price did not interest us.

The third option was Bankinter, we were not even clients, but a company in the group where I work and I have regular contact with them was…. few problems and a good price, perhaps because “we have come across” a manager of accounts who answers the phone or returns calls, is helpful, understands mortgages or has granted a few, etc.

Let’s see… our problem was age, that’s why we asked for a 15-year mortgage, which is less than the maximum that they are willing to, even though the banks now bear the costs of incorporation and their taxes, they have to amortize, in the end the one who will end up paying them is the client, let’s not fool ourselves with this, via interest or via whatever…. asking for 14 or 15 years, I assume that their problem was price, so Santander or Sabadell did not have much interest in financing.
