Shineray, currently the fourth most sold motorcycle brand in Brazil in 2023, continues its expansion plans. Initially known for its sales of economical mopeds, the company expanded its offering to include larger models, covering the 150 to 200 engine capacity range, in addition to investing in electric motorcycles and self-propelled electric vehicles.

With the intention of further diversifying its presence in the Brazilian market, Shineray announced that, from mid-2024, it will bring some SWM Gran Milano 500 units to Brazil, aiming for approval in the country. Although the brand has Italian origins, its foundation included investment from the global Shineray Group.
Thomas Medeiros, Supply Chain Director at Shineray do Brasil, revealed that the debut model is currently in the testing phase in China and should arrive in Brazil for approval between May and June next year. At the end of this month, Medeiros and director Luciano Menezes will travel to China to finalize the details of the new commercial strategy.
The year 2024 will be dedicated to testing and homologation processes, with the expectation that effective sales will occur in 2025. The motorcycles will be available in premium Shineray stores, such as Shineray Electric, and in future dealerships dedicated to SWM.
The strategy of Shineray of Brazil is to explore motorcycles up to 250 cc with its own seal, while products above 300 cc will be sold under the SWM Motorcycles brand. The SWM line in Brazil could extend up to 1,200 cylinders, making room for models such as the SWM Stormbreaker V 1200, a high-displacement custom with characteristics similar to the Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200.
Despite the lack of detailed technical information on SWM’s global website, the company is working to successfully debut the new brand in Brazil. The Gran Milano 500, for example, features a 494 cm³ parallel-twin engine, liquid cooling, 47.5 hp, 6-speed transmission, braking system consisting of two discs at the front and one at the rear, suspension inverted at the front, seat height of 790 mm and declared weight of 188 kg.
