Television icon, actress Elizângela do Amaral Vergueiro, aged 68, died this Friday afternoon (3), in Guapimirim, Rio de Janeiro. The reason was a cardiorespiratory arrest. She was rescued by Samu (Mobile Emergency Care Service) and by the team at José Rabello de Mello Municipal Hospital, but she did not survive.
In a statement, the city council lamented the loss. “The Municipal Government of Guapimirim regrets the death of the renowned actress. This is the second time that the municipal health system treated Elizangela. The first time, Elizangela was admitted to the unit with serious respiratory problems, and after a few weeks, she was discharged of the unit.”
With a career spanning over five decades, she has achieved success in various fields of entertainment. Elizangela gained even more affection from the public for playing Aurora Duarte, mother of the protagonist ‘bibi dangerous’, played by Juliana Paes, in ‘A Força do Querer’, who becomes involved in a life of crime and drug trafficking.
The work earned the Extra Award for Best Supporting Actress and nominations for the APCA Award for Best Television Actress and the Best of the Year Award for Best Supporting Actress. Throughout her career she won two Press Trophies.
The curriculum also includes soap operas such as “Ti Ti Ti”, “Senhora do Destino” and Roque Santeiro. Her last appearance in a soap opera was in “A Dona do Pedaço”, from 2019. In addition to being an actress, Elizangela was also a Brazilian singer and presenter.
