Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and CEO of PJSC “KAMAZ» Sergei Kogogin launched the serial assembly of the Moskvich 6 sedan.
“A year ago, there were empty workshops here. Today, 26,000 machines have already been produced. We have gone through a period of change in all logistics, new equipment, new technology, new machine. We overcame sanctions pressure, overcame competition from other manufacturers,” Sobyanin wrote in his Telegram channel.
The mayor stressed that the revival of the plant is only the first stage. At the second stage, it is planned to increase the Russian production of components and localization volumes. On the third – to create a platform for a completely Russian car.
Sales of Moskvich 6 are planned to begin at the end of October 2023. The new urban sedan will be available in three trim levels and five colors (black, white, gray, red and blue).
In 2024, it is planned to start production of Moskvich 5 and Moskvich 8 crossovers.
Moskvich 6 was presented to Sobyanin on April 4. The model is a sedan with a length of 4.78 m, a width of 1.82 m and a height of 1.492 m with a wheelbase of 2.77 m and a spacious interior with ergonomic seats. The appearance of the new car completely repeats the Chinese JAC Sehol A5 Plus.
The Moscow Automobile Plant “Moskvich” (former “Renault Russia”) began serial SKD assembly of cars. The first model of the resumed production was the Moskvich 3 compact crossover.
