After a thrilling final, SA20 and IL were crowned inaugural champions. and T20. Sunrisers beat Pretoria Capitals and Gulf Giants beat Sedert Vipers to become the inaugural champions of the ILT-20.
IL held at the Dubai International Stadium. In the final match of T20, Gulf Giants won the toss and sent their opponents into bat. Vipers didn’t get off to a great start. The team lost Alex Hales when the team score stood at 8 and Rohan Mustafa at 13.
Vipers were helped by Sri Lankan star Vanindu Hazaranka, who entered the field as the sixth man. The player scored 55 runs from 27 balls including six fours and two sixes. Sam Billings, who came in at number four, also made his own contribution and the score went up. Vipers scored 146 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated over.
Opener Chris Lynn fired for the Giants who were batting in reply. The player scored an unbeaten 72 off 50 balls including nine fours and a six. Apart from Lynn, Erasmus also shone, scoring 30 runs from 33 balls.
Giants won with Hetmyer’s big shot at the crease in the fifth over.
The final of the SA20 was held at the Wanderers Stadium. In the final, Sunrisers won the toss and elected to bowl.
Captain Aidan Markram’s decision was not wrong as Sunrisers bowled and Pretoria were bowled out for 135 in 19.3 overs. Capitals’ top scorer is Kushal Mendis who scored 21 runs.
The bowling performance of van der Merwin, who took four wickets, made the Capitals upset.
Sunrisers opener Adam Rossington, who batted in reply, got the victory in the innings that laid the foundations. Rossington scored 57 runs off 30 balls with four fours and five sixes.
With Markram scoring 26 runs and Jordan Herman scoring 22 runs contributing to the team scoring, Sunrisers became SA20 champions for the first time.
