Vande Bharat Train Fares Released for Chennai-Nellie Route

Chennai, Tamil Nadu – Southern Railway has finally released the fares for the Vande Bharat train that will be operated between Chennai and Nellie. The train offers two types of fares – AC luxury class fare and chair car fare.

The AC luxury class fare, which includes food, GST, and reservation charges, has been fixed at Rs.3,025. On the other hand, the chair car fare, which also includes all the aforementioned charges, has been set at Rs.1,620.

The trial run of the Vande Bharat Express train, which will be operated between Tirunelveli and Chennai, was successfully completed on Thursday. The railway workers rejoiced as they reached the destination on time.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Vande Bharat express train service between Tirunelveli and Chennai on Sunday morning via a video presentation. Currently, Vande Bharat trains are running between Chennai-Mysore and Chennai-Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. However, the Vande Bharat express train service will commence from Tirunelveli-Chennai starting from Sunday.

Mukund, Chief Engineer of Train Coaches-Wagons, confirmed the successful trial run of the Vande Bharat Express train between Tirunelveli and Chennai. The train will cover a distance of 650 km at a speed of 110 km per hour and is expected to complete the journey in 7.50 hours. The train’s maximum speed is 130 kmph, which may increase in the future.

The Vande Bharat Express train consists of 8 coaches, including one ‘Executive’ coach that can accommodate up to 52 passengers. The remaining 7 coaches can carry 76 passengers each. The train can currently travel up to 540 poh (passengers over head) in the coach and can stop at stations like Virudhunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Trichy, and Villupuram.

While the train’s opening ceremony took place on Sunday, it will be formally operated from Monday onwards. Loudspeaker announcements will be made on the train, along with the provision of food services. The train also offers various facilities for disabled passengers and free Wi-Fi.

Notably, the Vande Bharat train will not operate on Thursdays. It will depart from Tirunelveli at 6 am and arrive in Chennai at 1.50 pm. The return journey from Chennai will begin at 2.50 pm and reach Tirunelveli at 10.40 pm, following a different route.

Although the fare details have not been officially announced yet, sources in the Railway Department have revealed that the train will operate six days a week, excluding Thursdays.

In the meantime, the test run of the Vande Bharat Express train will continue today. The train will depart from Tirunelveli at 6 am and is expected to reach Chennai at 2 pm.
