Steelers Get Victory Over Bengals
In a recent game against the Bengals, the Steelers were able to pull off a 34-11 win. This snapped a three-game losing streak and has made them 8-7 with two weeks remaining in this regular season. Coach Mike Tomlin had high expectations for Mason Rudolph, who was making his first regular season NFL start since Nov. 14, 2021. Tomlin said, “We need him to be aggressive. He doesn’t need to live in fear or play that way. Certainly, we’ve got to be prudent in terms of protection of the ball, but there’s a balance there.”
The Steelers’ defense was a collection of available parts, with reassigned cornerback Patrick Peterson and Eric Rowe covering for Minkah Fitzpatrick, Damontae Kazee, and Keanu Neal. Despite the makeshift defense, the Bengals were only able to make an opening-possession first down. The Steelers offense took the field and scored with an 86-yard touchdown pass from Rudolph to George Pickens.
The Steelers’ performance was exceptional, allowing them to lead 24-0 at halftime. Rudolph’s performance was notable, setting the tone early and maintaining the lead. Rudolph played turnover-free football and allowed the Steelers offense to maintain their lead while consuming hunks of the game clock.
Rudolph’s performance earned him a game ball and special recognition from his coach and teammates. This victory has made for a special night and a potential best Christmas for Rudolph.
