Stop the vandal writings: the mural course arrives – Laives

by time news

LAIVES. As part of the “Breathe! Project ”, a proposal for urban art created in the main centers of South Tyrol, also includes mural art.

“The interventions of contemporary muralism by six artists and artists of the national and European scene – reads the presentation – explore the theme of breath with the involvement of young people and citizens, becoming a testimony of the historical period we are living”. In this context, workshops with young people are therefore also planned.

As for the reality of Laives, among the participants there is the Don Bosco center with its youth group, which will host the first of these workshops, scheduled for June 18. A mural by Egeon will also be created in Laives, a work that will have the theme of the house as its main subject. In order to create a connection with Egeon’s work and leave a pleasant and uniform overall result to the Don Bosco Center, the promoters decided to have each of the young participants build a single building. Each building, decorated as desired, will be designed starting from a simple base. “It is an opportunity not to be missed – say the organizers – so those interested in actively participating can contact us by writing to the e-mail address info@centrodonbosco.it”. “Breathe! Project ”is edited and produced by Outbox in collaboration with Young Inside and is supported by the Youth Policy Office of the Province with the contribution of the Municipalities affected by the interventions, namely Bolzano, Bressanone, Laives, Brunico and Merano.

As for Laives, Egeon (stage name of Matteo Picelli) has already had the opportunity, in recent years, to leave some significant evidence of his mural art. In fact, the then councilor for young people Dario Volani had entrusted the task of decorating some pedestrian underpasses, an initiative born from the desire to convince other children not to dirty the walls here and there, as unfortunately still happens to see around, because one thing are the works related to “street art”, the other is the writings without a meaning other than that of vandalism as an end in itself.

Recently, another beautiful mural was created on commission from the municipal administration at the entrance to the city school area and it is also confirmed a few days ago by the councilor for culture Raimondo Pusateri to continue along this line in the future, promoting other works murals in various places in the municipal area.
