Frankfurt – New department store at Konstablerwache!
For months it was unclear who should move into the former “Conrad” on the Zeil. It is now clear: the retailer “Woolworth” will fill the shop space, reports the FAZ.
With 2400 square meters, the new department store will then be one of the five large locations of the low-cost chain from Unna (NRW).

There are a total of 550 Woolworth stores in Germany. The chain is currently experiencing a boom as the demand for cheap products has increased. 90 percent of the goods sold there are own brands.
Until the 1990s, “de Wollwott” was very popular with thrifty customers, but then almost disappeared from the market. A few years ago, the brand was revived again. A company spokesman: “Provided that the preliminary work by the landlord is completed as discussed, we will take over the area on February 1, 2023 in order to set it up accordingly. The reopening is currently scheduled for Thursday, March 16, 2023.”
60 locations were opened in 2022, and the company plans to break this mark in 2023 – depending on the space available and the willingness of the representatives in the cities, they see potential for up to 100 new openings in 2023.
