In response to the actions of protesters who blocked the entrance and exit of the Palace of Justice during the recent mobilizations, the Supreme Court of Justice, together with other judicial entities, issued a strong rejection of these actions.

The blockade occurred hours after the Supreme Court of Justice failed to elect a prosecutor due to the lack of necessary votes.. Faced with this situation, the Constitutional Court and other institutions spoke out, highlighting the seriousness of the incident.

The Supreme Court of Justice issued a statement in which it strongly condemned the “siege” of the Palace of Justice, qualifying it as a violation of the right to freedom of movement and putting the life and physical integrity of judges, employees and journalists at risk.

«Democracy is left in suspense when any sector or actor in a country attempts to politically, physically or morally put pressure on judicial decisions.“said the Court, underlining the importance of maintaining judicial independence and autonomy.

Faced with this situation, the justice institutions demanded that the National Government provide the necessary guarantees so that the exercise of judicial powers can be carried out without pressure or threats, reaffirming the commitment to the rule of law and respect for judicial decisions.
