8 IS militants were killed in an attack by the Taliban in Afghanistan.
Afghanistan’s ruling Taliban have shot dead eight Islamist militants in a series of attacks targeting key figures in Kabul. A senior Taliban government spokesman said nine more people had been arrested.
Taliban government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said Wednesday’s raids in the capital and western Nimroz province targeted IS militants who orchestrated recent attacks on Kabul’s Longan Hotel, the Pakistani embassy and a military airport.
In this, eight IS fighters, including foreigners, were killed. Nine people were arrested in Kabul. Those arrested were instrumental in the attack on the hotel. “They paved the way for foreign IS members to come to Afghanistan,” he said.
Also, the Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for a deadly blast near a checkpoint at the Afghan capital’s military airport.
