The Chennai Meteorological Center has issued a warning that heavy rain is expected in Tamil Nadu for the next two days. This is due to Cyclone ‘Mithili’, which made landfall at Capupara near the Bangladesh coast on November 17th, 2023. As a result, an atmospheric downward circulation is prevailing over the Southwest Bay of Bengal and Sri Lanka.
Related news for the next few days includes light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in various parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Some areas have already experienced heavy rain and more is expected in the coming days.
The weather forecast for Chennai and its suburbs indicates partly cloudy skies with light to moderate rain and thunder over the next 24 to 48 hours. The maximum temperature will be around 31 degrees Celsius, with the minimum temperature around 25 degrees Celsius.
Fishermen have been advised that there are no warnings in place for their activities.
